i scanned my e40d tranny on my 95 f150 and it pulled 629 which is converter clutch solenoid circuit fault or lock-up solenoid circuit fault. can anyone help me start fixin it? where it is? anything would be good. thanks
Sounds like the wire itself is damaged or bad connection at some point in the harness.
Say for example could be a bad connection where the trans harness plugs into the main harness.
Converter clutch control circuit failure
Test the circuit, Purple-yellow wire, between the PCM harness connector and the harness connector at the solenoid pack.
If no continuity you found the cause of the problem, run a new wire or find the fault in the existing wire.
If test good then suggests the solenoid itself is bad or a bad connection at the PCM or SP. Bad solenoid requires replacement of solenoid pack as a unit. If in question you can and should test that solenoid first before replacing the pack to verify it is the problem.
The wire itself is always first thing I suspect on these trucks.
