As I understand it, it I ground the front pin from the solenoid plug it will energise the OD solenoid, can I do this as a temp measure or will I have to make jumper wires for all 3 connections and have my wife ground the OD wire when driving, I don't want to backfeed the ECU. i have the CD's but I am at home and only use a Mac here. i have been searching and I'm being a bit lazy as I have another trans but this was rebuilt some 15,000 kms ago and I don't want to swap it for no real reason, i fugure if I can ground the pin at around 80 km/hr and it doesn't go into OD I can look to the solenoid/ wiring before looking further, if it does work then ?????
have you confirmed that the 3>4 line is going low while driving
use an LED tester
externally forcing a shift while driving can be unhealthy for your transmission and you.
PCM will store code if there is a failure in the circuit
566
failure to shift into OD can be caused by a number of failures, ECT sensor, PCM failure, 3>4 shift solenoid failure, transmission electrical plug socket failure, protection diode failure=shorted
detailed step by step troubleshooting in Ford Service manual
Ford service manual does not work on a Mac, hence my searching for an alternitive, never thought of just connecting a meter to the plug as seeing if it went to ground, no codes show up and went through this a year ago, the garenteed flush and filter change did nothing so i'm loathed to do more certain cures if this does not work. I have a spare trans but am dubious that it will be the cure if it's external. from the trans, hence the ghetto check, this the O/Y lead goes to ground at say 80 km/hr than I at least know I am dropping the pan and changing the solenoid and wire (diode inc.) But no codes make me sceptical about pulling things appart. I just lost OD, then I got it back, lost it again, it did nothing in OD, now it just drives in 1-2-3, I jsut wanted to see if I have a way to induce OD to see what side of the trans I need to work on. P.S back when I had the windows POS I tried the pathway sudgested and got nowhere, this was the pathway I was given.

Hmmm... I downloaded the zip of that CD ISO. Since it unzipped correctly, I think it must have downloaded correctly. But none of the ISO burners I used would recognize the file.

How did other folks burn that to a CD?
Yes, some of those are in ISO format, which is easy, but some are under Nero format, and you'll need to get the Nero burner for them.
all the Ford Service cd's i've dl'd have been .iso but burned with Nero prog
seems to handle everthing i throw at it...very user friendly....less burned plastic frizbees
The file 92VEH6_0.iso(.zip) would not be recognized by anything I have, including Nero 6. But Nero did give the most detailed error message:
============
The entered block size does not correspond to the image length.
The block size may be wrong. Do you want to correct or ignore the
problem?
============
And then there is a window that pops up to let me tweak some parameters. I have no idea what to set these numbers to, so I just gave up on this file.
I went and got the file 92VEH5_0.nrg.zip, which unzipped, and Nero (and all my other programs) opened and burned it just fine. I'm thinking there is something wrong with that iso file.
