Heater hose fitting question

So I'm on the last fluid of the truck, replacing all hoses and coolant. And I found this looking like this, just wondering do I have to get a direct replacement or can a brass fitting be screwed in and straight to the hose??? Thanks

I'v done it lots of times ,i have a couple of my vehicals that way now. I would have used the correct ones on them at the time if i could have found them. That one is not hard to find,i would get it , but some are no longer made. So ,i say 'no problem', i'm speaking from 50 plus years of rebuilding vehicals.--My $0.02 worth or less.---

If a plain fitting is ok I've got tons in my shop, I was just concerned the tube extension on the bottom was important? Thanks

I'm not sure what that tube is for,i'm sure there is a reason. I just know i have never had any problems and don't believe you will. I'm sure some body will say it will give problems not having it. I would ask for their proof if they told me it had to be there.

You will have problems not using a fitting with the extension.
Now that somebody has said it, we can move on.
You shouldn't have any trouble using regular fittings.

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent details: Year, engine size.

There are two different types of this fitting:

D3OZ-18599-A ~ 1973/79 F100/350 V8 / Obsolete / 53 available NOS

E2TZ-18599-A [replaced D9TZ-18599-A): 1979 F100/350 300 I-6 / Obsolete / 3 available NOS

There are a few of them out there. This is one of those numbers that is often incorrectly entered into inventory because it has "O" in the number. This is an alpha "O" not a numeric "0".
D3OZ-18599-A
Dennis Carpenter, Concord, NC has 1 under D30Z (number) (704) 786-8139
All the rest are alpha "O"
Wesley Obsolete Parts, Liberty, KY has 46 (606) 787-5293
Green Sales, Cincinnati, OH has 1 (800) 543-4959
Rogel Ford, Crystal Spring, MS has 1 (601) 892-1851
Griesel Motors, Okarche, OK has 1 (405) 263-7242
Tri-County Motors, McKenzie, TN has 1 (731) 352-7925
Be sitting down when you ask the price, dealer cost $164.78, last list price $329.56

No prices listed for D3OZ-18599-B which was replaced by D3OZ-18599-A

D3OZ-18599-B = PEROGIE ENTERPRISES in Highstown NJ has ONE = 609-448-5593.

D30Z-18599-B = CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS has ONE = 800-476-9653.

O is correct (Fairlane/Torino parts catalog symbol). A bonehead at Carpenter's inputed 100's of obsolete parts into the parts locator as 0
