Ford CPS

I got a cps from Ford today. No improvement, still runs rough. It is just an overpriced stealership part at $40.

Why did you get a new CPS? And why from Ford?

Well thats better then they use to cost. I bought on in vegas years back and they charged me $300.oo dollars. And I had to put it in. With the new price drop, also went the quality.

Ouch, My local dealer gets around $23, Tousley Ford lists them at $16.50

FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY Parts - Ford P/N F7TZ-12K073-B

At least you have a spare now, but by reading your other thread I didn't think it was going to be a CPS issue.

Why did you replace a CPS for a rough running issue???

Good lord I wish people would stop recommending CPS's everytime someone has a truck issue.

In over 1.5 million miles driving these trucks, in 14 years working on these trucks, I have found or delt with less then a handful of CPS related issues...

Because so many members at FTE suggested it.
I have started multiple threads about my truck running rough over the past week and cps is the common suggestion.
This is the first part i have purchased from Ford in years (which was a waste of money and time to get and install). Otherwise i would have stayed with the new Wells cps i got last month when i did need one.
My truck will pull itself, but barely. I still want guidance on repairing. I started a thread about a scanner but would rather not spend the AE $400 plus $$ on a laptop right now.

I read back through all of your recent threads and really the only information as far as what is going on with your truck is, running rough, or sputtering.

More information would be helpful IMO.

Is it only running rough at startup? Any certain RPM's such as light load after TC Lockup? Are you getting a SES light accompanying the shutter? Have you tried unplugging the ICP to see if it smooths out? Tin nut on the IPR? Beyond those things, you will NEED to have access to live data and diagnostic testing such as BUZZ and PERDELS.

Stick with it and we will figure out the issue(s).

All RPM.s
No light
No change
Have not checked the IPR

A couple of these were previously answered but not all.

I am leaning with Joe here as well, fueling issue, or injector issues. But...

When you had the VC's off for the 50 cent mod, did you happen to start it to watch oil discharge?

Before you did the 50 cent mod did you ohm out the wiring for the harnesses and IDM wiring? Although wiring issues would get a SES light, so it shouldn't be an issue.

You didn't mention unplugging the ICP sensor, I would also try that in case you might have a biased sensor.

While the motor is sputtering if you use cruise control does the sputtering stop?

Is there any smoke out of the tailpipe associated with the sputtering?

Fuel issue.
I changed one of my filters but question fuel because i have pressure above 50 psi. I am becoming concerned about injector(s). I think it is something else though.
My experience with clogging filters on this truck, has always idled good while loosing upper-end power. I may replace the other two filters to be sure.
Oil discharge.
Where will it come from and what volumn should i see?
Does this make a mess under the hood or just small squirts of oil?
Wiring.
No warning lights, so no wire checks.
ICP.
As mentioned, no change in running.
Cruise control.
I will have to try that. What will it mean if it runs right?

I plan to remove the passenger valve cover this week-end to have another look.
