I DROVE Mater for about 18 miles this week... only the second time on the road. What a blast.
My kids got me the Beauty Rings and Hub Caps for Father's Day.
I put a new Mallory, mechanical advance distributor on and it starts RIGHT up, and idles beautifully.
DOWNSIDE... however, on my 18 mile trip, when I arrived at my destination, it wouldn't start. I didn't trouble shoot it, but two days later it started FIRST TRY... ???? I had brought my trailer so he is back home now. It starts up beautifully right now. It's been raining all weekend here, and I don't have all the windows in yet, so I haven't driven it again. I need to drive it some distance to see if it has starting problems when hot????????????
I thought I had the bug before, now that I've driven it... YIKES
It would turn over, but not even pop.... My game plan is to drive it again next chance I can, and hope (???) it does it again, then I can see if I have spark. I wasn't able to do any trouble shooting the first time.
I guess my real hope is that it will start every time, all the time. Right now, in the barn, it starts like a charm....
One up side to these trucks is that our kids and wives will never be lacking for gift ideas for birthdays, father's day, christmas....even ground-hog day!!!
