What truck? Stock tank? Check for a kinked filler hose and that vent is clear.

Don't own a diesel, but doesn't the harpoon mod supposedly alleviate this?

Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Harpoon Mod Web Page

there are two different diesel fill nozzles. big rig nozzle, and smaller car style nozzle. make sure you are using the smaller nozzle. the large one will cause the problems you are having when used in a pickup fill neck.

2004 F350 Superduty. This problem just started. Original owner. Is the knitted filter located in the tank? I should drop the tank and make sure everything is clear and clean. Anything I should know, tricks?

It's a straight drop into the tank with a vent.
Most likely your vent line is collapsed.
fixing that and the problem should go away
I would also check the fill line. If all else fails
the vent line where it goes into the tank may
have a valve in it (Not sure on that).
The "filter" in the tank is just a screen and it is
at the bottom end of the pickup so that is not your problem.

It's actually fairly easy to drop the tank, even with a 4x4. There's not much there to cause a restriction but I'd definitely do the harpoon modification while the tank is out. The hardest thing is getting the sending unit "nut" off and on the top of the tank. If you have or can borrow some PVC pipe cutters the harpoon mod will take about .0000001 seconds to do. I can put 26 gallons of fuel in my tank in about 30 seconds with the big nozzle after doing the harpoon mod.

A little more info on the harpoon mod. Pitchers may help. Is it a after market buy?

From the tech folder: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...-the-tank.html Also, 2000Silverbullet provided a link.

Nothing to buy but some cheap PVC cutters unless you already have them.

I've had my pickup since new in 2005 and the "harpoon mod" was one of the most fulfilling mods I have ever done.... just did it about 3 months ago!

Works great if you have a hoist or tractor or something and can just lift the box straight up. Then you aren't fighting with lines and what-not.

Make sure you mark the ring-cap and the tank before you remove it.... then you know when you have tightened it enough when you re-install it.
