Since I installed my bdp chip, my tranny shifts funny. The 2-3 shift often slips in the daily driver [+100hp] mode and the tow [+100hp and other subtle differences] mode. I emailed bdp, but, I guess they're too busy....? It doesn't do that so much in stock tune...and it's not real consistent. Like, sometimes it shifts OK, 2-3. Most of the time, it comes out of 2, slips 3-7 seconds, then settles in. I love the engine performance, especially on the highway. It's like a different truck...but, I'm worried I might destroy my tranny with this soft shift from 2-3. Does anyone have any suggestions? If the tranny needs an overhaul, can a boot do it? I just can't afford a rebuilt tranny right now. My wife just started $19000 worth of dental work and I'm just bought this truck and have put a coupla' thou. and many hours into getting it up to speed. So, I'm out'a money and tired of laying under the darn thing, but, I'll do what I haf'ta.
I have a Banks canned 6-gun (+63hp) tuner. On the +63 level my shifts are soft any slow too. If I bring it down 1 level, they seem to behave better, still lousy 2-3 shift. Trans-go or Sonnex VB kit in my future. Just trying to stay out of the throttle until good fortune (by way of Valve body upgrade) come my way. I will be watching as others chime in too.
Is your fliud burnt(brown) or still good looking(red)?
My fluid still looks good and smells good, and I've added a 26k inline cooler and carefully added enough fluid to maintain the correct level, hot.s It only has about 113k miles on it..
Oh, another weird thing, driving down the hwy at 70 in cruise, sometimes when going up a hill, it drops out of cruise...? It didn't do that before the chip.
Is it BTS tunes? if it is I have your answer. I am going through the same thing right now. Mine was the same. I just got my tunes friday. Basically ok shifting in stock tune but if you use any tunes the shifting is soft and odd. I just installed a BTS valvebody minutes ago and the Trans shifts fine now. When I talked to Brian he said most all of his tuning customers have a HD tranny or at least a valvebody. I would call him. I haven't called him yet to let him know that the valvebody solved the problem. I just got done installing the valvebody minutes ago. Call Brian he and Tina have been great help and verry fair to deal with.
Yeah, bts! Where did I come up with bdp? Brians diesel performance...I think. His web sight said email was the best way to contact him...maybe he meant the least bothersome to him way...Is the valvebody installation pretty straight foward?

Valve body is a piece of cake... just be prepared to get tranny fluid everywhere...and I mean EVERYWHERE!! drop the pan, pull the stock VB out, replace with BTS VB, torque all bolts, put in new filter, torque pan, refill with fluid, taadaa!!! new VB installed, shifts cleared up
Valvebody was easy it only took 2 beers.(mabe that's where the BDP thing came from LOL) If you pull the drain plug and let it drain for at least a half an hour it will help with the red rain. There are instructions on Riffraff's and BTS's sites I believe. You will need 2 gallons of Trans fluid to replace what comes out. 80 inch pounds on the inside bolts and nuts and 120 inch pounds on the pan bolts.

Huh...shouldn't a custom tuner ask you what trans/trans mods you have? What a joke!
