I was wondering if I could change the shift points on my truck so it doesn't downshift as quickly going up hills and doesn't take so long to shift back at the top of the hill. Check my sig for my truck. I would just like to save a little gas $$ and it seems like my truck is always trying to rev up in cruise.
The only way you can precisely modify shift points is a custom chip, a shift kit works nicely but a custom chip will give more control of shift points.
The idle can be lowered by simply adjusting your idle screw. The screw should be located somewhere on, or around your throttle body.
As for the transmission issue, I'm in the same boat when it comes to dealing with whatca got. A shift kit would most likely hurt your gas mileage due to the fact that they are based around performance. But, that might be what you need when it comes to climbing hills, a later shift. In my opinion, it wouldn't be worth the $ spent on the kit/chip. Only my two cents, hope it works out for ya.
