Hello all, just joined so I could possibly find out some needed info about a truck I am thinking about purchasing. The truck in question is a 2006 F350 with the 6.0. I have heard LOTS of bad things about this engine but also LOTS of very positive things as well. The one thing that scares me is the truck as 171K miles on it. Pretty high for a 2006 by normal standards but being that it's a diesel should this be something concerning? the truck looks to be in very good shape and the Carfax is pretty clean. I have not run an Oasis but am hoping to get one prior to purchase. The "dealer" is asking $20K for the truck but I will hopefully not be paying that (If he won't budge I won't buy!)
Any thoughts about this truck?
Thanks, Jason
When you get a chance, drop down to this forum:6.0L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums and post up about the truck. Those guys will give you the best advice about it. That said, I had a 2005 6.0L that I bought new prior to trading it on the '11 I have now. It was a great truck and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another 6.0 again.
As for the miles on that truck you're looking at, I wouldn't be as concerned with the miles as I would with how they were accumulated and how the truck was serviced. There are a couple of members here in the 6.7 forum that have 2011 SD trucks with over 100,000 miles on them.
