I have been reading and lurking for the past two days here and have enjoyed learning about these trucks. I have a question. I am real close to buying an 07 F250 with the 6.0L from the owner of the company that I work for. It has 107k because he drives about 300 miles a day to and from work. He is selling it to me for a real good price. Other than maintanence records and the oasis, is there anything in particular that I should be looking for/scared of/completely avoid, etc. Was the '07 6.0L any better than its predecessors? This is potentially my first Ford and my first diesel. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

 

Welcome to FTE! The Oasis should be pretty much all you need, but the maintenance records are a bonus. Supposedly, the kinks were all worked out come '06-ish on, but there are some bad apples out there in all the model years. Good luck and let us know if you get it.

 

+1 on what Brad said. The service records would be great as well as the mentioned OASIS report. The consensus seems to be that the '05-'07 run was best, however, there are plenty of perfectly happy '03-'04 owners out there too. If he is the original owner of the truck, the maintenance records shouldn't be too hard to get.

I have an 05 F350 and I love it. Yeah every truck out there will have its share of probs. Yes mine does have some aftermarket upgrades on it but it pulls great. Right now I am trying to work an electrical issue due to the conversion it has on it but besides that it is good. Also I was told when I got this truck that if you keep up on the maintance it will last. I personally put a fuel additive in when I fill up. I do that to help keep the injector pump and injectors lubricated better.
