Ok problem first appered on friday. headed to lunch around noon. Was parked on fairly level ground truck would not start first though was FICM checked voltage. never dropped below 47volts. after checkeing and rechecking everything i could think of the truck eventualy started around 5pm no idea why. Truck was fine all weekend. Then it did it again today same parking lot with fairly level surface. failed to start around noon and has yet to start. so truck is sitting at work with me at home. tried unhooking icp but no luck. noticed odd noise from fuel pump not just a hum. Would like to hear every idea that can be though of at this point and ill work my way down the list tomorrow.
ok managed to kill the batteries today but before doing that checked for codes and if pump was working. no codes and fuel is being pumped to upper filter housing not sure on pressure though.brought batteries home and have them on the charger now. Also called the worthless extended warranty company today and they will cover the hpop if it is the issue. but before it heads to a shop i would like to try everything i can to ensure that is the problem. any more ideas?
ok got batteries back in today. Truck started right up. had a cel code p2623. could this be from trying to unplug the IPR when the truck wouldnt start? figured it would have been reset after a day of no power.
I had two no start hot experiences, 1. After a short trip to the hardware store. 2 during a very hot day, 100* + outside. If it starts during the cool of the morning or night, it points towards a HPOP' leak. You need a ScanGauge2 to be sure. Be careful not to burn up your starter trying to start it
Ok well I have been using the truck for most of the day has started up with no problem each time but Still wanting to figure out what would cause it because im almost positive it will do it again. found a local scanguage retailer here in fairbanks gonna call tomorrow to see if they have one in stock.
My no starts were not continuous . They were months apart. When the 1st one happe ned we were next to our favorite Chinese restaurant, went inside to have a bite and came back an hour later to the truck. I was just about ready to call the hook for a tow home but decided to try it one more time. It started and ran fine. During the time we had dinner gave the motor oil time to cool down and thicken back up. The thicker oil allowed the HPOP' to produce the required 500 psi to run the injectors. After that experience, if I iwas working 80 miles from home , I would drive to work turn the truck off and restart it right away just to make sure I had a way home. It started and ran fine for months before I had the second event. So mine was an elusive problem and the 2nd event help me figure out which direction to go ( no SG2 at the time).
I decided to go after the stc' fitting first only because it was the deepest most difficult part to get to and who am I to think I would get off easy! Admittingly I just threw a part at itbut I lucked out and scored a bullseye first shot.
if a 6.0L does not start in 5 seconds no amount of cranking will succeed, try again later after the motor cools down or the weather cools down. That's my story and I 'm sticking. to it
ok Who has a picture. I am going to be honest and say i havnt dug into thismotor yet and a little worried to break the wrong thing and i shure cant afford to fix it. so since this is my only vehicle and i live a little ways out of town have to get it right the first time. would i have better luck with ford or international for the IPR or connector. other than orielys and napa those are my only choices.
