shifting
My 1997 psd shifts from 2 to 3 real quick and lugs the engine it does it most the time.Ever now and then it will shift like it should. it only has 15000 miles on a rebuild.it has a super chips on it and changing it does not help.

You need to watch live data and look at the inputs to the PCM. Most likely you have a sensor sending bad data.

Is that something ford would have to do or something anybody with a scan tool can do what would you look for?

Anybody with a GOOD scan tool that has Ford software could do it. When I owned a repair shop I had a tool that could do this. Often it is the only way you can diagnose an electronic transmission.

Okay Thank You I have a friend that has a ford scan deal he can reprogram ford cpu so he can probly do I will call him Thank You again Mark

I put my scan tool on it and it would try to kill the engine and then it did kill the engineany ideas?
