Either Joe or anyone else that has knowledge of the Snap-on Scan tool: Model number MT-2500 and will this tool scan our OBS's? Is this the tool that is referred to as the "Red Brick"?
will do all engines ford has as well as other manufacturers. will not do CAN systems on the newer vehicles. if you can get it at a fair price its a great tool to have on hand. the only PID i know of that may not work on the diesels is MGP. since that is a calculated pid by the pcm it sometimes doesnt show as an available pid on the scan tool. other than that it works great for diesel's and will do all the self tests ford has programed into the pcm
you cant really test much of anything on our tranny's with the scanner. if you get the "ford electronic trans tester" then you are in busniss. i passed up a good deal on one and kick myself in the rear frequently for doin so.
yup, k2a is the most commonly used one, k-9 is a frequent user as well but i dont recall what i used it for. its been a while as tanks dont need snap-on scanners...lol
