Looks like the same stuff that was in mine. Took less than 500 miles to plug the 1st filter. App. 1500 miles for the 2nd and shes been good since. It did cost Ford one set of coolers before the filters got it all out.
Cross contamination of coolant types can and will produce "goo".
This is an interesting statement. I wonder how many clogged oil coolers were caused by someone adding over the counter generic "works in everything" coolant.
Do you know any specifics, like what crossed with what can cause a problem?
That stuff looks about the same texture as what was in mine
Mine was More Silver looking
I havent found anymore since I Flushed cooling system and changed the Oil Cooler but have checked My Coolant filters all except 1 since and found nothing
It was definitely not heavy, but it really wasn't light either. It was not magnetic. I had it analyzed and the most common component is silica. I got this material out of the coolant filter 5 1/2 years ago (not long after buying the trucks). Had kept some of it, but can't find it now!
I assume it was casting sand. I got it all out on the first coolant filter change. Never plugged up a filter after that.

Well that blows my theory, I live in Calif Gold Country and it looked like the black sand you get in the bottom of the pan during final wash out.
