My truck is a 76, f100, Flairside, LWB, 2wd, I6 300. I ran a few searches on the net, in the forum and got some good info. I have a few questions. <O</O <O</O First, is there a difference between style side and flairside mounting bolts?<O</O <O</O
From search info: The bolts from LMC are not the correct hardware, is this still true?<O</O <O</O
From search info: DC had the correct bolts (bigger and longer square part of the bolt) but I cannot find the bolt on their site, does anyone out there have a part # for the bolt with DC?<O</O <O</O
Does anyone have or make the mounting blocks for long bed flairside?<O</O <O</O
----------------------------------------------------------------- <O</O It look like hardware is as follows that makes up a mounting point.<O</O <O</O
bolt, Washer, mount point, washer, some type of locking washer and nut <O</O <O</O </O I would like to get the original type of hardware, if not available.<O</O <O</O
What type or grade of alternative hardware can be used that is safe (bed won’t go flying off) and still keep the carriage bolt look?<O</O</O
<O</O Answers to any of the above questions is greatly appreciated and thanks.
Yes, there is a difference between styleside and flareside bed mounting bolts.
The Ford P/N for the styleside bolt is 384865-S40. This is a 1/2"-13 X 3 3/4" Bolt.
The flareside P/N is 384913-S40. The only info the parts catalog gives is it's a 1/2"-13 phillips head screw but doesn't give any length or details.
Thanks Keith, now for the bad news. I did a search for the 384913-S40 bolt, the ONLY ones I could locate are in Russia !!!
I never really paid any attention to them and don't have any handy to look at, but I have a feeling that they are flathead phillips screws 1/2-13 NC thread unknown length.
I'll look a little further and see what I find out.
