I'm usually in the 7.3 forum but today I helped a friend in stall in intake exhaust and edge chip in his 08. It was a used setup from another 08 and all went in with no problem but I'm concerned about the dpf sensors being unplugged. Is ther gonna be a problem? The first guy ran his truck like that for 30,000 miles before trading it. To be clear there are no holes to install the sensors in the new pipe we just unplugged them. Thanx for any help
No problem as long as the tuner is designed for it, my rear one is cut. Left it plugged in just to keep the plug clean. MY front is still installed since I only did the DPF delete.
The Edge I have requires the sensors to be installed. Mines an older model, if his is the in color racing evolution or racing CTS (I think) it might be OK. If it's black and white like mine it may be a problem. I guess he didn't get a manual. I suggest you go to the edge web site. Get the model number off the tuner and look it up on the web site. I think you can down load a manual there. You can also put in the serial number and register the unit and edge will notify you of things you might need to know. At least they did for me. Your friend also should know that edge has quit selling "racing" tuners. those are the ones that you need to delete the DPF. Good luck.
Thanks for the replies guys, we got it done. It's the cts race tuner that has the delete option. We left the sensors plugged in and wired them to the frame. Haven't talked to him today to see hiw he likes it
Just and update, and thanks again for the replies, all went well with the dpf delete after we plugged the sensors back into the harness. He does have the Edge that works with the dpf delete settings but now he's having codes thrown relating to the egt's. He talked to a guy at Edge and was told that it's prob an issue with the egt probe. Unless these new trucks come factory with an egt probe he don't have one. The programmer claims to show the egt's but since it didn't come with a probe I don't see how that works. Any ideas on this one?
did you leave the CAT on ? has anyone left the CAT on and had issues? seems it should function alright or does it get clogged like the DPF and cleaned during regen?
Left the cat on here, no issues after 3K miles. A cat is nothing like the DPF can't imagine how it would get plugged from not regening. Would imagine if it were a problem companies wouldn't be selling the DPF only delete pipes.

My edge reads EGT from the OBD plug. of course you have to leave it plugged in. I'm not sure where (what sensor) it reads from but my guess would be the first one behind the down pipe.
