This may be a long shot, but I just thought I'd ask about this and see if anyone has any tips. Occasionally, my 03 has a weird glitch where the radio and power windows will not work. If I give my dash a firm love tap just above the radio it almost always comes back on. As far as I can tell, it's just those two things that lose power.
Again, this is probably some unique wiring gremlin or loose connection somewhere, but if anyone has any tips where it may be, it would be welcomed. It's been happening about once or twice a week for a couple of years now, and I've figured out just how to hit it for it to come back on, so it really isn't that major, I'm just worried one of these times it won't come back on.
Yeah, it's the VSM or vehicle security module. It is located behind the radio. It controls things like the radio/power window/dome light delay, and auto head lights. You can buy the module online, but unfortunately it has to be programmed by a dealer. My advise, just have the dealer fix it, if you have a good one. Take a tube of ky, and hope they're gentle.
I would have to say from your description that that is definatly it then. I don't think I'm going to worry about fixing it yet, maybe after I get that winning ticket...
Also, I assume that the VSM controls the glove box light? I forgot to mention that the power kicks off sometimes when I open the box.
