I just bought an 8 cylinder, 352 motor, 1967 F100 that I intend to restore, but first I want to get it in shape mechanically. Just replaced the battery, alternator and voltage regulator, and the charging gauge which said it wasn't charging, now registers that the battery is being charged, BUT the Oil Pressure Gauge is still showing no oil pressure, though I'm NOT seeing any signs that that is really the case. I would appreciate any help on 1) how to check if the oil pressure is actually a problem and 2) how to check if the problem is in the gauge and how to fix that. Thanks.
Most likely it's just the sending unit , they are inexpensive and a common part to fail .
it's by the oil filter , take the wire off and ground it , if the gauge goes all the way up sender is the problem . if not could be wire or gauge .
oh and welcome to FTE post some pics we love to see what people are working on .
A Lot of guys just add manual gauges, oil, water temp & a 12 volt meters hung bottom of the dash. These Amp meter aren't much good having a Alternator charging system. Volt meter are more accurate with an alternators.Amp-meters worked great with a generator system. Ford's electronic gauge cluster were not much good for being real accurate other then the gas gauge as the yrs passed with out having to replace it's little rear voltage regulator in back of the dash cluster..
