so.....my battery is dead and i've got my truck hooked up with jumper cables, lettin it soak up some juice and i notice the brake lights are on. I suppose they could be tail lights, but they seemed bright. My first guess is this is why battery took a dump. What to check first?? the switch on pedal? Wires? Thanks in advance.....you guys rock!
Yeah, the switch on the pedal is a normally closed switch, that is to say that when you are not pushing the pedal the switch is pushed closed. It would be very easy for it to stick... Just push on it and see if you can hear it click, good place to start anyways... Let us know if you can't find anything, also depends on your electrical trouble shooting skills... looks like that wire goes to the emergency flasher...
If ya got a 67....... be sure ya get the "67 only" switch..... the PO had put the "68-72" switch on mine..... and yep, the switch would stick open (brake lights on)..... but both are still available..... Truck Parts and Truck Accessories
but to be sure, unplug the switch.... lights should go out...... jump the wires together.... lights should be on..... Hope this helps....
Theres more info here than you can shake a stick at.... and im with you... no way my truck could have gotten this far without these good ole boys... this site truely rocks......
