The throw out bearing recently blew up in my 87 F250, 7.5 with Borg Warner transmission. I replaced the bearing and now notice that the new bearing is squeaking slightly, this is because it is spinning while in neutral. The slave cylinder is putting pressure on the clutch fork, enough to push the throwout bearing up to the clutch and make it spin. It does not matter how I adjust the pedal, under the dash, the throw out bearing continues to spin all the time. I was able to release the pressure by moving the clutch fork by hand from under the truck while engine is running in neutral, this did cause the bearing to stop spinning.
I thought that the slave cylinder was supposed to allow the bearing to disengage from the pressure plate, so the bearing would only spin when the pedal was pushed. I do not remember a return spring on the clutch fork either. Is this a slave cylinder problem, some other issue, or is the throw out bearing supposed to spin at all times?
