question about the throwout bearing

the truck is a 1990 f 150, 4.9 m5od. anyways i replaced the clutch and slave cly in july of this year and just recently i had to replace the throwout bearing because it started making noise. after replacing it i looked through the inspection hole and it looks like the bearing is constantly touching the clutch fingers and i dont think this is correct. the system is bled and the pedal feels the same as my last f 150 so im not sure if its ok or not. thanks

As far as I know, the throwout bearing will ride on the clutch fingers all the time. The slave cylinder on my truck even has a spring to keep the bearing touching the pressure plate fingers.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? My slave cly also has the spring pushing it out. I just want to make sure before I wear aout another bearing in 4 months.

Think about it, you just said you have a spring pushing it out....

How would it NOT be touching the pressure plate fingers all the time???

what brand of bearing are you using?

Ok that's what I was thinking. Its just a napa replacement slave with the bearing on it already. They excanged it and the new one is made by perfection clutch and the bearing is way nicer than than the old style one
