Hi,
I have a 2000 2wd Ex Limited with a 7.3 and 193,xxx miles. I purchased it with 173,xxx miles and replaced all 4 shocks shortly after purchase. The top of the front wheel well is 34 1/2 inches above the ground but the rear is 39 inches. I see quite a few EX that are completely level or have a rear sag. Did the previous owner upgrade the rear springs or is the front in need of new springs? I do not think he used it as a tow vehicle, the brake controller pigtail was still sealed in plastic in the glovebox. When I tow my 28ft car hauler (7500 lbs) the rear sits at 35 inches and the truck sits almost level. Thanks for the help.
The front springs might be worn out. The 7.3 is a very heavy motor so I would look into replacement springs. I had a 2000 F350 2wd V10 That had very heavy duty "hyrail" railroad equipment mounted on the front along with heavy 1/4 inch think 19.5 wheels. After 160,000 miles the entire front end needed to be re built and The railroad even added heavier front springs but by the time I got it the springs were very worn and my bumper was only about 23 inches off the ground. The rear springs were a heavy duty aftermarket set that caused The truck to be very high in the rear. The only time it was level was with 2 tons of dirt in the bed!
.. too bad they don't make them for the front on a 4WD..
I would like to level my X as well, but don't want to put the V/B springs because I really don't want to lift the whole truck.
See that's funny to me.
I'd much rather be able to buy a new F250/F350 set of springs
(nothing can really go wrong once they are installed)
and not worry about a leak or hole in the bag/lines.
On the other hand, I like being able to adjust the air pressure
and "tune" the ride. But, I'll stick with RAS on the rear when I'm
done with other things..
This is why they make so many flavors of ice cream.
