Android Torque App

Hey guys, was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this application? I was looking into it as a start while saving money for getting either an edge cts or something along those lines, a sgII is an option there as well, but i really dont want to have to buy something else for egt and fuel pressure when i eventually need to take a look at it. Stock 2003 6.0 as far as i know, has 140k mile now, and getting around 18-22mpg mix city/highway, just purchased a week ago and loving it, towed a light carriage on saturday and never even really noticed it behind me. Just a note on that it was an amazing tow, this wagon normally jumps all over the place with my dad's dodge.

I have the Torque APP. I don't use it as much as I do the SGII. But it is fun to use.

Here is a video of the gauges I have. It doesn't have as many as SGII, but enough. Fair warning. Cheap bluetooth adapters can be hit and miss on quality and consistent readings. My cheap one didn't work very well. I ended up buying a PLX Kiwi Bluetooth. Cheap adapter-$25, PLX-$99.

Also, here is a pdf of what the log files the Torque APP can give you.:

I bought a mini ELM 327 for $21 delivered. It worked for about 3 weeks then the phone wouldn't connect to it. I carefully separated the housing at the seam and noticed there are 2 circuit boards inside, which actually appeared to be pretty good quality. The boards had become slightly separated (they are attached with a connector), so I took them apart and reattached them. I haven't had an issue since. The gauges work excellent. Something to think about for those of you who have had one fail. I bet all the circuit boards inside these adapters come from the same factories in China whether they cost $20 or $100.

The torque app is a great investment for $30-$90 depending on the bluetooth adapter.
The code reader itself works great, shows the code & to the internet to describe the code if you want to. All the gauges you can add; oil, coolant, tranny temps, ficm voltages, fan speed, hpop, and more! With internet access it gave me more info about the bad camshaft sensor than my edge insight did. It is another inexpensive tool that is a good fit for the 6.0 engine.

I bought a BAFX bluetooth reader for about $ 25.00 and it has worked great. I think I got it from Amazon.

Thanks for the quick responses! I was definitely curious about the oil temp gauge as i couldnt find it on the lite version (granted i was only really looking quickly, and didnt play around much) so definitely a good stopgap before getting something more expensive. Thanks!

I use my SG II primarily for monitoring but bought the app/adaptor for the logging capability. It will be nice to see the numbers graphed while towing and on grades.
