Pulled the 6500# travel trailer to up to the GA mountains this weekend and on the way back the turbo stopped spooling. Limped her home and pulled these codes also the engine compartment got a little sooty.
I believe the boots are original and with 212K figure all below is needed:
None of those will fix your issue... More then likely you have a EBPV that is stuck or a boost leak. You do not have a wastegate issue that could cause a no boost condition.
Nothing before or after the turbo will make soot. You have an exhaust leak. Either the up-pipes or down pipe is loose/broken/cracked.
Good info. From what I read it makes sense. Besides soot they say leaking increases EGTs (don't have a pyro yet), and from what I found starting to melt (see new pic) perhaps added heat contributed to the turbo ebv code and the melting on the hose that attaches to back of the wastegate accuator.
In your first pics it looks like the MAP line rubbed on the cold side intercooler pipe? Is there a hole in it? This will cause a low power situation as the MAP sensor will not see any boost.
Also what turbo EBV code? The only codes you showed were a P1249 and P0603.
id start out with pressuring up the intake to check for boost leaks. 4" pvc cap with a quick disconnet in the air intake tube with around 20 psi. spray soapy water on every connection. if you hear air blowing you may not see bubbles. just have to listen and feel for the air
