Sluggish Turbo

A week ago I took my 04 f350 6.0 to the drag strip for the first time. I noticed as I tried to stage the truck in the staging lights, I power braked it to build boost and the boost was somewhat sluggish to build-up. If I hold it long enough (10 or more seconds) it will hit max boost and launch and run like a bat out of hell. If I repeat the power brake it improves and the boost will come up quicker. But If I drive it for a while or the truck sits for a while, I'm back at square one.

Does this sound like I'm in need of cleaning the turbo?

While I've got the turbo out, is there anything else I should replace/update while I am in there, like the turbo oil supply tube, turbo oil return tube, ???

Thanks - Kurt

no not if you dont seperate the aluminum housing. thats were the 8mm 12point bolts are. leave that part of it alone and you wont need any parts.

This kit comes with everything you will need when removing & reconditioning turbo including the 3m sanding kit. Cost about 60.00 from Ed The parts Guy

Thanks cheezit.

The kit I listed contains only the pads, emery cloth, and a paint pen.

MY mistake!!!

The kit does contain a new bandclamp and mounting hardware.

William04X found the kit (some time ago) on ebay for $10 (as an fyi)

Edit - you beat me to it Rocky! (thanks)

The article (http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/articl...icle-06-05.php) indicates that the kit was limited to the cleaning parts. Clearly changes were made in the content (and way more than the $10 at Lowes - unless you find an ebay deal)!
