any ideas on why my 2005 F350 will not start?? Started holiday on Aug 17/12 got about 2.5 hours away from home the truck just quit, running about 100 km/hr pulling 26 ft trailer, quitely stopped running, pulled to side of road, cranked no start, called tow truck company, 1 hr wait, tried again after 10 min started up normal got about 500 ft down road stalled again, cranked again no start, waited about 10 min again started, made it down road another 500 ft, got towed, tow truck turned corner too sharp, bang smashed hole in front of trailer. I replaced the Ficm the next morning, still no start, never even fires, I did notice rpms go to about 100 when cranking, can hear fuel pump pressuring for a long time, doesn't pressure only for a second or two, like most vehicles, however I took the secondary fuel filter out, noticed the bowl was 1/2 full, had wife crank engine, it slowly filled, up so it has some pressure, but is it enough? Hooked up a code reader it says "0" codes.
Any ideas? I'd like to get on with my vacation before its time to go home or I have to go to the "stealer ship"
Thanks
So the fuel pump pressuring for an extended lenght of time is pointing to a hpo LEAK?
the fuel pump will run 30-45seconds when key is turned to on positiopn
then if truck isnt started the fuel pump will stop at that time its Normal
The Reason Im Saying HPO issue is from what it sounds like you let the truck sit a few it would cool down some and then start back up whats a Classic symtom of HPO Problem If HPO dont get over 500-600psi the FICM Wont even turn on to fire injectors
I could be wrong^^^ this is where you need a Gauge we have a great big list of Ford 6.0L Operating Values we can use the gauge to check against spec
Untill we get some numbers going all anyone can do is Guess
I use a ScanGaugeII it will show just about every operating value for the engine the PCM uses to calibrate
SGII is 150.00 or so from autozone or you can get off ScanGauge website
2005 and up have alot of HPO problems to so thats something to consider
we can get you running if you want to do the work but a Gauge is a MUST HAVE
Have you changed fuel filters recently??? that upper fuel bowel should fill Fast or fairly fast
you need to check Fuel Pressure to Sounds like it might be a Fuel problem the truck has no Fuel Press sensor so SGII wont get that you will need a mechanical gauge to check fuel press

I changed both the filters end of may/12 so they should be good, today I removed the drain plug from the water separator to see if there was any water in the primary filter/ pump area, found none, I then had a friend turn on the key with out starting, with the plug still removed, took a while to fill up the filter then a small slow amount came from the plug hole, should it be under high pressue thru the drain hole, when I first checked, the upper bowl filled quite slowly even tho it was half full to start. when i did the drain plug check I noticed the pump was quite growley and changed pitch as it came to the end of the cycle, but I guess maybe they are that way normally, in the manual its states the pump whould come on for 2 to 3 seconds at key on, no cranking.,
How can you be sure that the fuel filters are not plugged? You could have recently gotten bad fuel so the "changed in May" information may not guarantee good filters.
IMO the fuel bowl should fill faster than you describe.
Blades35 was right. FYI I just visited your profile page and you wouldn't believe the number of Ford Techs' that passed you up because of your choice of words. Everyone has to make a living! Might want to get a Voodoo doll to remove the juju curse

Which choice of words?? First of all I don't beleive in curses, second I've been driving fords for over 45 years, which means I have helped Ford and their employees make a living. So I don't get the hard feelings. its my vaction time why shouldn't i want to get back on the road quickly??
