I have a 1990 f-250 4x4 7.3, I have replaced the
VSS, the Speed control sensor on the transfer case, the external plug on the passenger side of the transmission and the throttle position sensor, it did get rebuilt at certified transmission about year ago but its not there problem...... Now the problem..... When i am driving from a stop the transmission will shift fine 1,2, when you get into 3rd gear it will consistantly down shift into 2nd and up shift back into 3rd untill you reach the higher rpms of 3rd gear then it will shift into over drive fine. The overdrive lamp is not blinking, my speedometer does bounce a little, its not smooth. It does not bang into reverse or drive, the fluid seems fine. thats about all i can tell thats wrong. please help...
i found the problem, the computer for the transmission had a very loose ground, the one on the inner fender, and also the crazy downshifting was because of the plastic gear in the transfer case
