Tranny and transfer case questions

Tranny and transfer case questions
Ok... dumb question, but what Transfer case would a 1987 F-250 diesel come with?
Next, what sensors would be vital to the operation of an E4OD transmission? Are there any that would cause it not to shift by itself AT ALL in Drive?
For the record, the E4OD question is on a 1990 F-250 w/ 460 in it, and:
Park - Works perfect!
Reverse - Great!
Neutral - Also perfect!
Drive - Ummm... 1st gear only
2 - Seems good
1 - Umm... its the same as 2, can hit 50mph @ about 2,500rpms, yet you can feel a 'shift' when you change between 1 and 2, but no RPM change
O/D Light is NOT blinking, but Check engine light is on, no shift error codes
Unplugging ALL trans connectors DOES NOTHING, drives the same
Anyone? lol

Sorry can`t help much. I have a `87 F250 6.9 and I don`t know what transfer case is in it. Post that question on the pre-powerstroke diesel page and you will get the answer no problem.
As for the E4OD there are a number of key sensors, Throttle Position Sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor and Manual Lever Position Sensor to name a few. The problem you have is that, I think, for your year of truck the computer does not store transmission error codes.
Try posting this problem on the transmission page.
Good luck.

Since it is a cross year at 87 you could have the BW 13-45 or the BW 13-56. Only way to tell is crawl under the truck, find the tag and see what it says about the case. The E4OD should have spit codes on the computer, pull the codes and find out what the ECU is seeing from the tranny. The MPLS is about the only sensor you can fix from the outside, but it requires the tone ring in the rear end to tell it anything about the speed it is in.
