OK here is the deal. I have been researching all the articles on the conversion and thought I had a pretty decent understanding....not. Well I went to the local U pick and pull and got the brake system off a 73 F-350. Booster and resevoir, Spindle with rotor, dust shield, duel piston calipers, plus the proportioning valve. I need to go back and get the metering valve if this works in my favor. Well after going thru the trouble of breaking everything down and cleaning it up I went to the local auto store and got new calipers and pads and ordered a set of new kingpins. Got home and there is a single piston caliper in my box. That's when the little light that should of been on came on. The question here is can i still use the setup I got and just change to a 5 lug rotor or do I need to take my butt back to the pick and pull and get a new setup off a 73-79 F-100/F-150?
You have all the wrong parts unless you plan on swapping in beams & all but that will not make your truck a 350. You need F100/150 parts. It is easiest if you just get the entire front unit beams & all. You can read on interchange here.
I don't mind having a 350 suspension all I would have to go do is get the beams which are at the u pull. I don't remember seeing a complete F100/F150 setup. And I know it won't make my truck a 350 but the question was can I use this hardware with the 5 lug rotor?
You can not use the 5 lug rotor (nor the wheel for that matter) with what you have. Had you simply followed the links I posted you would have had your answer plus all the information you need to do this task correctly without problems. You can't put those spindles on your beams so anything after that is pointless.
Hey i'm new to this and don't know a great deal about all of this. I did look at your link and a bunch more like it talking about king pins and spindles and I-beams. Not one of them had the answer about rotors which was the question. And yes I understand that I need to go looking for a complete brake and suspension off a 73-79 f100/f150 to make this work.
You need to get up to speed & pay attention. King pin size determines spindle being used. Spindle being used determines the rotor/caliper used. The 2nd link I gave you goes through doing a '67 F100 using a '79 as the donor truck. If you want to keep your I-Beams you will need to find either a '73 or '74 F100 with disc brakes to grab parts from. If you are willing to swap out the beams (best move) you can use any donor (100/150) from '73-'79.
King pins are the same diameter for F100 F150 65 to 79 Poster can use the spindles from any to 79 F100/150 donor without swapping beams. Use the King pin for the 67.
Why would one swap perfectly good beams for a set from a J yard? Are the pulled donors undamaged? No way to tell until they are mounted and alignment is out of whack.
You can reuse your drag link from the 67 by shaving a slight bit off the spindle arm top to allow the shorter taper to seat and have enough threads to pin with a castle nut.
The F350 uses a larger diameter king pin that the beam will not accept.
King pins are the same diameter for F100 F150 65 to 79....

While this is true the length is different. In '75 the pin went from 6.353 to 6.483. I am referring to the 100/150 pin. Some 250 trucks use this same pin & the years used between the 2 sizes varies. The main reason people take beams & all as I understand it is they have the front end finished prior to install thus lessening down time. New bushings in the eyes, new king pins, etc. It also keeps everything as a single unit should shopping for parts in the future occur. No issues, it is all the same year. You also don't have to grind anything down to make it fit.
