I am in Denver, Colorado now. I started out in Adair, Ok so it was a real good drive for me. And now that im here i started my truck this morning and i relized that she has a tick. So i checked the oil becuase it was a hard drive here i said well maybe she burnt some oil. Well no its still in the ok zone so im thinking it may be an injector? What is your guys's thoughts. I am over 700 miles away from home and i wont evan start to drive them 750 miles back for atleast another week. If this is an injector how long will it last? Is this safe to drive like this? Like i said im not at home and i dont know or trust a single diesel shop out here. Me and the wife are on vacation and this truck is going to get drove as is rather i like it or not according to the wife. Is it just the Colorado fuel v.s. Oklahoma fuel? Ohh and i did add 8 oz of diesel kleen to a full front tank to it just today hoping that it was a dirty injector or a lube problem.
It has this tick in the engine compartment and i only hear it at lower rpms mainly at an idle. Im sure its there all the time but at 65 u cant hear anything in this truck. At an idle the tick is like every half second i would say. maybe as slow as a full second but i have never actually went out there and tried to time it.
No... But i did just for you. No exhaust leak anywere, all the pipes seem tight and there is no leaking soot anywere. And it doesnt sound like one either. Its kind of like a gasser knock with low oil or something. but my oil level and pressure is both in the normal range.
Is there a video or post about sticking injectors? Ive heard that a sticking injector could be heard. And i didnt drive much today here in colorado so Im sure the diesel kleen may have got into the system but i dont know how much. I only ran it for 20 mins round trip today. Also as quoted above i used 8 oz of the grey bottle in my front full tank. If it is a sticking injector will diesel kleen fix it? Can they become unstuck? I am no mechanic but i know i have good oil and good oil pressure and im sure i have no exhaust leaks so all i can think of is a bad injector. Does colorado have different fuel then back in oklahoma were this truck is from?

Diesel Kleen is more of a preventative maintenance type cleaner than a stuck injector cleaner. It's not potent enough. Remove the fuel filter and fill it with something that's high in detergent. ATF will work pretty well, Seafoam would be a little better. Run it for 5 minutes and then let it sit overnight, then drive it hard in the morning.
SOrry for the slow responce. Ive been takn the wife everywere today. We rented a harley and went site seeing around the mountains and hills. And on the tank that i have diesel kleen in im at the 80 mile mark on my trip and it has stopped the sound!
I dont seem to hear this tick anymore. I think the diesel kleen helped out alot, the sound has dissapeared. Diesel kleen must be some wonderful stuff. This was my first time using it. I used 8 oz in my front tank so i have 24 oz's left. Should i wait like 3000 miles to run it threw again or should i just put some in each tank until im all out?
So the "ticking" sound i described is now gone so i am debating if i still need to fill the filter with it
