Don't get me started....31 years of playing the catch and release game (and not just in the river or lakes). It was always interesting to get a phone call from the Captain wanting to know why the Domestic Violence suspect was out threatening their spouse again before I could even get the arrest report completed on the first arrest.....or arresting the same drunk driver 2 and 3 times in a single shift...I'd wasn't going to rant so I'd better stop now.

I heard that on the news, That he didn't even have his finger in the trigger guard and that he did not fire that gun.

And now Sleepy has slipped in a Nanny Clause for new vehicles in his build back better bill, New vehicles will have an onboard Nanny to shut the vehicle down if it senses that the driver is impaired. I wonder if that will be tied to the lane keep that tells me "Driver Needs Rest" because the road has tar stripes covering cracks in the road and the camera picks them up as painted stripes and thinks I'm drifting lanes. Now when I switch lanes with out signaling, it will shut down the truck and leave me stopped on the side of the road.

I'm sure that will be a whole lot more effective than just taking the keys away, impounding vehicles, revoking licenses and all the current things we do to stop impaired drivers.

I wish you all nothing but the best. That's all I have to say about that!

Made a day trip to the southern command to get the roof on the outhouse. I can't say I am a fan of crawling around on a metal roof, this was my first go at it. Spiderman I am not! Definitely would not have wanted to do it without the scaffolding. Didn't have time to finish the sheathing, but not too worried about it for now. Things will stay mostly peaceful and dry inside. The door is only stuck in with a few screws just to close off the doorway. Yes, I am slow! Get back at it in the spring sometime. Was a beautiful day to work outside, 60 ish.

Good morning folks! TGIF to you all, or to y'all if you're from down south.

I think I have a buyer coming today to pick up the trommel that I built last year. My wife said it needs to go, so go it must. I'll disassemble it a bit to make it easier to move and load.

Most the materials for the project were already on hand or were purchased at a discount. The motor is from a commercial garage door opener - free from my dad. I rewired it to run all the time in one direction. The cylinder is made from repurposed bike wheels. Almost all the fasteners were ones I already had. The white Coroplast was from a prior RV project. Most of the lumber came from the 70% off bin at Home Depot. The sled - used to catch the dirt - is one my kids used years ago. The wheels holding the cylinder in place are from roller blades I got from Goodwill. I did have to buy an 82" fan belt, a pulley and the hardware cloth. In the background behind the Trommel there is a pile of rocks that was a good cubic yard in volume. It's gone now - back into the rock garden.

I separated thirteen five-gallon buckets of dirt.

I dispose of the unwanted dirt at my RV storage lot.
I had not remembered this at all. Our own little gold rush thread, right here on FTE.

I used the trommel to clean the rocks that I pulled out of the rock beds around my yard. After 20 years of leaves, grass clippings and dust there was often a 1" layer of (composted) dirt at the bottom of the rock beds, which the weeds went wild with. By pulling out the rocks and dirt and using the trommel to separate the two, I could put the (mostly) clean rocks back into the beds and weeds were a lot less likely.

I disposed to well over 300 gallons of dirt that got separated. The system works well as long as the dirt isn't moist.
