People need to quit blaming their weaknesses on big business, other people and a lack of self control. I have Two words for those kind of people, GROW UP! the same goes for people who smoke and drink it's their choice they need to live with the consequences. No, I'm not being judgemental I have indulged myself in all three.

OK I'm through ranting
That pretty well sums it up for me too!

The sad part of this is most folks will listen to this and think Oreos are bad. I have eaten Oreos since i was a kid (they're one of my favorite cookies)and nothing has happened to me. IMO these people should be sueing the parents that let their kids eat everything and anything anytime they want.I too am getting very tired of other people who have nothing better to do (apparently) telling me what i can and cannot do or eat.

Killer Oreos????

Bull doodie!!! I'm almost 41 and I am an Oreo addict; I sometimes eat a full tray of them in two days,or less, and weigh 195 lbs on a 73 inch tall frame. I am also a junk-food junkie, I will always go for the chips before an apple or orange.
The reason I am in good shape is that I work hard and play hard.
If you are fat, it may be due to genetics or lack of exercise, not Oreos. I strongly suggest turning off the TV,computer, and playstation, then make these kids start playing, running and jumping.

Killer Oreos????

What I read was that this guy's dad died from heart disease, and he was an avid Oreo eater. But he also said his father ate alot of Margarine...both contain trans-fatty acids.
That's the basis of his lawsuit: my father died because he ate Oreos and margarine, and it's the manufacturers fault. He is after a settlement, but he's playing to the emotions of the people in California by taking the "Ban Oreo's" stance.
It amazes me how far fetched these lawyers are able to go and get away with it. I bet there are 100,000 lawyers out there right now coming up with "plausible scenarios" with which to extort money from somebody.
"The truck my son was driving when he wrecked it wasn't equipped with a warning label stating that drinking alcohol and driving could result in death, therefore the manufacturer and the dealership are liable in hs death..."
"My daughter wore a frilly tu-tu for ballet classes as a child and as a result now suffers from an inoperable brain tumor. The tutu was made of a material that contained chemicals known to the state of California to be carcinogenic, therefore the manufacturer and the ballet instructor are liable for medical costs, and we should ban frilly tu-tus"
"The collar my puppy wore became too small as he grew, choking him do death. The manufacturer of the collar did not poke enough holes in the collar, nor did they notify our client of the risks involved with growin puppy necks and collars, so they are liable in his untimely death, and should award the owners 1.3 million dollars for pain, suffering and mental anguish in the loss of this beloved family pet."
I should become a trial lawyer...I would get RICH!!

Oreos are biohazard. All cookies a like junk food should be banned in all 50 states. Kids should be required by law to eat 2 carrots and 1 stick of celery everyday till they turn 18. then they can free will and turn iinto those "sawed off tree stumps" as CowboyBilly9Mile put it.
I just ate about 2 dozen oreos and may eat some more. I am only 19 and tired of all this bull crap that people come up with. Im pretty sure that if thats stuf wasnt in the oreos, they still wouldnt be considered health food. There is no telling what kind of stuff is going be put in place in 20 years. It justs gets worse as the population becomes stupider and looking for that quick buck. latr

Killer Oreos????

It's a crying shame that people no longer need a brain to function in America today. All that a person needs today is a telephone to call a lawyer in order to be able to blame someone else for their failures/stupidity/bad luck/mistakes/lack of common sense/etc and, if they are successful in suing someone, they will become wealthy. I remember back when America was a "real country" that if you did something stupid and you got hurt, then that's just how it goes, ie, you screwed up and now you suffer the consequences. But now we live in the "new America", and the way to handle ones lack of brains/common sense is to call some cocaine snorting lawyer to sue someone with deep pockets.

I've been around this planet for 41 years, and I just gotta say that in my lifetime this is a TOTALLY, 200% different country today than when I grew up. EVERYTHING has changed, from politics to gun rights to attitudes to common courtesy to love thy neighbor to investing to tree huggers, etc etc etc . Night and day differences. I want my country back, and I want it back BAD, but it just ain't gonna happen((

I heard that on the news this morning. he stated that all he wanted was to make the public aware of the dangers of eating oreos. More than likely, the judge told him to take a hike, that his case had no merit!!

Killer Oreos????

If you'll want your country BACK....your gonna have to force the Politicans who are actually working for the large corporations and the very rich to start working for "YOU" the voters. Given the fact that WE are the Ones that CONVEY OUR power to our elected representatives and they are SUPPOSED to Spend their time ...taking CARE of our Business. Money and Retention of Congressional Power is the ONLY thing that the politicans care about in today's World. They will SELL their SOUL to the Devil to Keep their Seat(s) in Congress. We will continue to be governed by a corrupted bunch of self serving legislators because we are Complacent in Demanding that Honesty and Integrity be Reinstituted and maintained by those whom we elect to national and state office. fd

Killer Oreos????

I was on federal jury duty awhile back. After the case was heard and decided the lawyer for the defendant came into the jury pool room and thanked us for our desision. He happened to be a lawyer for Wal-Mart. He told us that Wal-Mart is one of the most suwed companys in the US. People take Wal-Mart to court for some of the dumbest reasons. Now I think if a person goes to court and looses his or her case they should be forced to pay the other persons legal expenses. If they know that they are using a poor excuse for a law case and it might cost them some money their would be less law suits. As for the oreo case. I've been eating Oreos for better part of 50 years. They ain't killed me yet.
