Anyone want to give me their opinion on why (some) people want to move to California. What, we are the 3rd or 4th largest state area wise, but by far the most populated at 33,000,000 and counting. Number 5 in the world as an economy. If there is an attraction, what is it?
I live here and trust me there is no attraction its overcrowed to many people and thats in central cal down south in l.a. its not worth going there unless you need to the traffic sucks some mornings you spend 45 minutes to crawl 5 miles i want to move out of here and bad.
i was born and raised here about 15,20 years ago this place was a whole different place not so many people homes were affordable and the menu at the drive through was not in 3 differnt languages!

It surely can't be affordable housing or jobs.
It is a great place to visit and I have always enjoyed my trips there, but after a few weeks I was always ready to leave.

I don't think it's that hard to figure:
1. weather (no winter to speak of, no crushing humidity)
2. economy
3. Location. The state is blessed, along with the rest of the left-coast, with surfing and skiing opportunities...in the same day.
The same things that brought my mom and dad to LA in the 30's. Of course, there's a dark side to all this too- horrific traffic, smog, and the general urban issues that chased me out decades ago. Unfortunately, a lot of folks must've follow me- the State of Oregon had a lower population when I moved here than the Portland metro area does now. At least we don't have to move that far to get away from it.
IMO the life is better in California than it is in Mexico and most of the natives move out to places like here in Oregon and Washington. Most of my neighbors are from California, but claim to be native after 15+ years. (My family's been here since the early 1800's.)
At least in Idaho it's a seasonal thing - Move there after a vacation in the summer and after the first winter of 4 foot of snow - they move.
I wouldn't mind living in California. SF gets kind of cold and foggy; maybe Santa Cruze without the people. In fact, if about 20,000,000 people moved out of the state, I'd be getting my sunblock right now and move to LA.
