It's been quite a while since I posted. At that time I was restoring a 68,000 org. Km (43,000 mile) 1978 F150 Custom. With a 460 and C6 auto. That truck is long gone now to its new home. Pictures and details to follow later.
Currently I'm working on a 1953 Merc M350. It has a flat head, a four speed, a dual cylinder hoist and lots of patina tho no rust. The plan is to swamp it onto our newer chassis and drive train for a fair weather driver. That's well its way. My question or better opinion poll today is about color(s). I know that comes up more than the weather on here but I'm still leaving it open for discussion. Thanks for your responses!
Have any pictures of your '53? A lot of people absolutely love a good patina on their truck, it adds character to it like none other. Mine was seafoam green under red... didn't look good, lol.
Other than that it's pretty much paint it what color you like best. Certain colors do look better on them in my opinion, and some colors will always stand the test of time and not look dated.
I am a pre-paint decider. Original color, flat black, white (to hide my body work) have been crossing my mind. I remember reading a smart paint choice comment on here, "red, black or yellow are the only hot rod colors". I may not be building a hot rod but those are the best color choices in my opinion. However, choosing a color that no one else has is ideal to many. I am currenly leaning to my truck's original color, color code "SS" (dark green).
