New to Group, just bought a 1950 F1 (w/pics)

I am new here. I am in New Mexico and found a pretty neat F1. I will get this home in the next couple days...it is located a little off the main road to say it lightly. Looks to be a great little project.

Welcome to FTE! There are a few New Mexico folk here.
What are your plans for this truck? Be sure to keep us up on your progress.
Take lots of pictures.
Here are the pictures embedded for us truck **** addicts that don't want to waste time clicking.

Are my eyes playing tricks or is that frame purple?

Welcome to FTE Straws. The '50 looks like a solid truck to start with. Bunch of great folks here on the forum that are more than willing to share knowledge and ideas. What do you have planned for your new ride? Stock daily driver...any mods in mind...engine...trans...etc? Have fun with it!

I call Albuqueque home for now. Right now the plan is the get the title in my name...then get it home.
For the truck, I have a 289 I just rebuilt and chromed out for a project such as this. I want to make a farm rod out of it...by that I mean leave the exterior in farm fresh condition, and place a later model engine and trans. Then clean up the engine bay to sparkle, juice up the interior to comfy cozy, and rebuild the suspension (lowering the truck) and add some nice wheels. Nothing more for this time period...I think leaving the memory dents and patina with a good stance and good sounding V8 will be nice.

Nice! Looks to have had a flat 6 in the past. You also have a 51-52 ash tray from what I can spy in the interior photo.

There are at least two FTE members that I can think of that live in Albequerque, Ross and Bobby. They'll probably be along soon to welcome you as well.

Welcome Straws! Sounds and looks like a cool project. I'm a big fan of the 289. "Farm Rod"... I like that term. Good luck and keep us up to date on your project.

Welcome. You guys and those western trucks are so lucky. That truck would be a basket case here in the rust belt.

Okay, Ilya, I'll bite. Educate me. What do you see in those 4 photos that tells you that it had a flat six?

I'll take starter wire and corroded driver side inner fender for $400, Alex.

Also the throttle linkage hanging down and to the right (left in the photo) would be in line with the carb on a 6 cylinder engine.

Oh Yeah, you gotta love the desert for preserving history.

Welcome to the forum and the old truck scene, Straws! I'm in Rio Rancho, as is BobbyTNM on here. There are plenty of BonusBuilt (48 - 52) trucks around ABQ. There are also plenty of flathead V8 sources if you want to save yourself a lot of trouble and stay stock. I'm guessing from the pics that you are in the far SW part of town?
