oh.Wide Open Throttle.
when testing/setting the TPS.you want 1.2 volts at idle throttle positioning and 4.5V WOT.
the key is on,but the engine is off,so just push the lever all the way open.it's tricky....very tricky,to nab both 1.2V/4.5v combo.
i still haven't yet haha.but she's closer and closer now.1.2v/4.15v.(which is pretty dang sweet i must say.)
Hey I guess I just want to be sure I don't have the article in front of me. I have set the closed throttle at 1.21 by loosening the two bolts and adjusting accordingly but I'm thrown with thinking tat I now hold the throttle open and again lossen the two bolts and set it again only at 4.50. Is this correct
No, it is one setting to achieve as close to both values as you can get. Ford has his at 1.2 low, 4.25 high after a lot of tinkering. If you can't get close to those two values, then you have a bad FIPL and it needs to be replaced.
yeah if only it were so easy.
you'll notice while adjusting one,the other will get thrown way out of whack.it's a real pleasant time searching where both idle/wot meet specs.
tip;
lightly snug the bolts when in the rough ballpark, and use a heavy item like a long screw driver to ever so gently tap the tps bracket to fine tune.otherwise, she'll just go all off on ya if the bolts are loose before you can even think of snugging them up.
once both are within spec, very carefully snug the bolts fully, closely watching she doesn't go back out on ya.
real easy love taps now,or you'll go right on by.don't hit the sensor itself.........even though you'll feel like it before it's over.
wow that's real good! how's she go? she should shift like a nice HD trans rather than a car trans when set good like this.don't be alarmed by the man shifts.you'll get used to 'em quick enough.
id probably trade a little WOT to get 1.20 instead of the 1.18 cus i like a firm shift.a wee bit later shift is all ok with my truck anyway since she's over 8k lbs just empty.
wow that's really scooting along.where ya headed in such a hurry?
i do drive like that from time to time when test tuning.pretty dang high,id guess 2500ish rpm with a half the oil giving to her on take off or maybe even higher.when test tuning,im usually giving just about,if not all.
your economy will kinda suck if your forced to take off like that in high traffic areas often, but sometimes ya got to get along and can't drive like granny or me safely.
even loaded up iv no need to take off so quick normally.if im starting out on a hill of course she may require half throttle or more to get moving at a normal pace.
wow that's really scooting along.where ya headed in such a hurry? keep up with traffic if i don't "get on it" this thing is a slug.

mine would shift at about 3200-3400rpm with my tps set at your settings.
at just half throttle? something is way out of spec.
whenever you set something to factory specs and this spec appears to be drastically unacceptable, then altering something to compensate is only a temp fix.
maybe you've got your fuel cranked way up higher than i do though brother.iv just enough to boost 9.5....maybe real close to 10 psi at times worth of juice at WOT.
you know though, you've got the factory turbo.i was reading the 7.3l idi coffe book and one of the differences was the ecm for the E40D in 93-94 turbo idi engines compared to n/a which is my ecm..........but.i can't see any reason for hitting the governor at half throttle on take off before a shift either hahaha.so no way that's correct.
im sure the ecms may differ as per the article, but i highly doubt it's this drastic.id think during a downshift the converter may remain unlocked for longer duration or something like this to help out with keeping boost up a bit better perhaps.i doubt it's anything so harmful to economy such as 3k+ half throttle take off shifting.
