Ive started to suspect that my fan clutch is starting to go bad if it is not already bad. My truck does not overheat yet, but when I take off it roars a lot and my temps have been a bit higher than when I first got it. Like I said it doesn't over heat I just hate that loud roar. Any tips on diagnosing it?

Usually the roar means they're working, unless it doesn't stop roaring when you get up to speed. I'm pretty sure mine's bad, it doesn't roar and with the engine off, I can spin it pretty easy with little resistance.
So if it fails locked it will always roar? I also noticed that when I shut it off it spins a little while before it stops. Not much just a few seconds.

Yes, it will be noisy as hell when it fails.
While cold, as in sitting over night.
Open the hood and give it a wing, how well does it spin?
Mine never really "freely" spun (like a box fan, there should be resistance) on my truck, but it was never too stiff.
Check for end play in it by trying to flex the fan back and forth also.
Its hot out, so if it's warm in the engine bay, then the fan will start working.
Just for fun check over your coolant and such to make sure its all hunky dory.
It sounds to me like your fan clutch is working just fine and you're actually getting a lottle on the warm side. Check the coolant levels, make sure the radiator isn't all clogged up with something that got through the grill (visually). I would suspect a thermostat issue, but I am not sure that the fan clutch would engage if the thermostat was sticking because I don't know if the radiator would get warm or not.
