Well I have a 93 exploder and when the air temp gets over 100 it stalls. It sounds like it starves for fuel. Um the fuel pump was replaced. A year or so. Ago but it sat. For a year I replaced the fuel filter. Any ideas?
Aftermarket fuel pump or Ford? The first time I replaced my fuel pump I had a similar problem. Turns out the new aftermarket pump I had put in would "overheat" in hot weather and shut down.
Diagnosis of this started with a fuel pressure test. I put my fuel pressure gauge on it when it stalled/wouldn't start and could only get 10-20 psi out of the fuel pump. Engine seems to need at least 25 (spec is 40) psi to start.
I have had the same problem. If you can still get one, a Motorcraft pump is your best option. If that is not available, Carter, which made the original Motorcraft pump, is now made by Airtex, ruling it out as an option. Use a Denso instead.
