Is this correct diesel emblem for 1986 F250

It is ironic that someone else just asked about diesel emblems, but I figure it is better to start a new thread instead of thread jacking the other one.

Anyway, someone else mentioning diesel emblems on the tailgate of their truck got me to notice that I have two holes in my tailgate at about the same point. When I was at pick'n'pull today I noticed that a Econoline van with a 6.9 in it had a diesel emblem on it, so, I yanked it off. I figured for $5 it was worth a try. When I tried putting it into the holes on my tailgate, it fits, so I suspect it might be the right emblem. Here is a picture of it: https://plus.google.com/photos/10923...OXd9tqm8JfwjwE

Is this the correct emblem for a 1986 F250 XLT Lariat with a 6.9? If not, what would be the correct emblem? I don't see any other missing holes so am I correct in my understanding that my truck should only have the one on the tailgate?

I stuck two of them on my fender of my 92. If it fits glue it on there.

1983-1986 trucks have that same emblem on each fender below the F250/F350. The fender emblems do not use holes, adhesive only. Same as the XL or XLT badge:

Damn, you'd think I would have noticed the missing F250 badge before now

It is strange that the previous owner removed all the badges except for the Lariat ones. Didn't even have the ford oval on the grill until last week.

No, you got the right one. The FWhatever50 badges are for the fenders. The tailgate just got the simple Diesel badge you picked up.
