I have a 2001 f-250 4x4 auto...I only have this problem in the winter...when my truck warms up in the cold morning it makes its usual jet noise out the tail pipe which ik is the flaper behind the wastegate holding the exhaust back to warm the engine...problem is it seams like it never will go off and limits my power..do u guys know of the sensor tha controls that going bad..if so were is it and can I check it to make sure

From wat I understand whether it is closed or open is determined by oil temp...is that right?...another thing it does in the winter is the rpms will like get stuck at 1400 RPMs and will not go over that rpm but if u put the accelerater to the floor the rpm nver changes but it blows black smoke and RPMs still never chang3 so idk an it only does it every now and agan in thecold winter ...25 degrees or so

It does sound like your EBPV, a lot of guys just gut them. I chose to keep mine, I resealed the piston and set the preload to spec using a spring scale, works great. I think there may be a way to wire it open temporarily

It's the exhaust back pressure valve. It is designed to help the engine warm up faster when cold. If it bugs you just unplug it. It's a two wire plug under the driver side of the turbo. It's sounds like its working normal to me.

It uses AIT ,EOT, and EBPS to control the exhaust back pressure valve
