Budy of mine is wanting to stick a 3" lift on his 04 F250 4x4 excab. The wheels he found are a 12" wide wheel with a -44mm off set. Do you think the offset will clear or be too much?
Take it to a tire shop and ask them the offset question.... wish I had. Someone on this forum told me that with my leveling kit and factory rims I would have no problem running 12.5x35x20's so I spent $2200 on Toyo Open Country MT's just to find out they rub a bit on the inside when you turn. Not to mention paying $200 for the allignment.
That's a wide wheel and a lot of negative offset, so the tire is going to stick way out. Anything over about a 33" tire is going to have clearance issues on the bumper and rear of the fender opening when turning. Stock offset for that year is +6mm and with a 12.5" wide tire, about -6 to -12 mm puts the tire flush with the fender edge.
I dont have your exact answer but i can give u some insight that i just learned.
I have a 2006 F250 & it had 20x9 Rims w/a +15 offset & 305/55/R20 (33.2 inch Tall & 12 Wide) Tires & i had NO rubbing issues.
I just replaced those with 18x9 Rims w/a +18 offset & 305/65/R18 (33.6 inch Tall & 12 Wide) Tires & i do NOT have any rubbing issues w/these either thankfully.
What was explained to me by Discount Tire was the + offset brings the tire inside the fenders & the - offset pushes the tire outside the fenders.
While i had NO problems with clearance on the 20's i sold them to a guy with a 2002 F250 (which is the same as the 2004) & he does rub @ times while turning but likes em anyway.
Sitting in driveway & turning steering wheel they looked ok (but much closer to rear of fender than they were on my truck), the problem occurs while driving & turning sharp.......Good luck

Yep, '05+ has way different offset needs than '04 and earlier trucks. Stock for '04 and earlier is +6mm and stock for '05+ is like +38 or +40mm.
