I just had my 2005 straight piped, 4" turbo back, no cat no muffler. Sounds really good. The turbo sounds awesome whenever I start it up but I had a question.
Yesterday when I started it up everytime whenever the turbo kicked in it was a constant noise from the turbo. Today I started it up, and it made it's usual rumble for a second or two then the turbo kicks in, sounding like an airplane, then shortly after it stops, more rumble, then the turbo noise kicks in again for a little longer, rumble again then it kicks in again and was constant after that.
Is that normal? Just curious because yesterday it didn't do that.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Awesome, thanks. Is this just something it does every once in a while or what? Cause it didn't do it at all yesterday, and I started it 3-4 different times.
I'm not sure what the parameters are that make it cycle, but it was added to programming a few years back to help keep the turbo vanes from sticking in long idle situations and for folks that don't "use" the turbo much.
Alright thanks y'all. I painted the tailpipe gloss black with some engine paint, and got a 12" long 5" gloss black tip. If anyone wants a picture let me know and I'll try and get one posted.
IF you think that noise is noticeable with a OEM turbo wait til you upgrade to a Power Max,
I could never hear it before, or maybe never paid attention to it, but now I can definately hear it, and I see it on my DD, when the veins cycle the VGT Duty Cycle goes down to 15.xxx or so.
