-Just got my latest report from Blackstone.
10k mile interval on Shell Rotella 5w40 full synthetic oil and FL-1995 filter.
They are saying my oil's IRON content is at 27 (and I'm guessing thats parts per million) and has progressivly gotten higher over the last few oil change intervals-I have done ALOT of towing this last time but nothing crazy weight wise, any comments on this? think I've got a problem brewing or is this considered normal for what I've been doing? they are recommending 12k on this next oil change. BTW engine has only 115k original on it. Thanks!
Somewhat contradicting to think that you ran your oil 10k, and from what ive read, your oil showing a pattern with higher "iron" readings each time, but they say to run the next oil interval to 12k...
From what i gathered on my first oil report is that the iron levels will increase as the mileage increases on the sample and is considered normal. They will tell you if your levels are high for the mileage reported.
What are the numbers for the last few reports. FE-PPM/miles
Is Blackstone offering a PQ index number yet? That might indicate if you have any particles that are too large for the spectrometer to pick up.
Was there anything different when you took this sample? Was the engine cold and sitting for a while where the other samples were from a warm engine? Initial reaction is that 27 ppm for FE isn't terribly excessive for oil that's been run for 10k miles IMO....

All things being equal, only 27ppm over 10k miles with towing sprinkled in is pretty good. IIRC Navistar specs 100ppm as the change threshold so your doing fine.
How are the other wear metals looking? What was the viscosity? Any contaminates in the oil?
Sounds like T6 is treating you well, as it should...it is a very good oil.
Guys, Thanks so far, I'll ask my Wife to scan in my report and post it for you all to see, I am really not all that versed on this stuff-just started sending samples to Blackstone for fun really-then I take notice of the numbers and what they say about the general condition of my oil/engine.
