My grandpa has a 66' mustang in his back yard and I'm going to get it running again for him. The thing is, it's sat for a long time. The motor's a 200ci 6, last ran in 1996 or so.
Here's what I was going to do:
-change oil
-change plugs/wires
-clean the distributor cap and replace the points
-re-build the carb
-use an old lawnmower gas tank to run it off of
I know it isn't seized, I leaned on the fan and the crank turned! But should I worry about stuck valves?
I'd like to prime the oil pump too, does a 200's oil pump run off the bottom of the dizzy? Might be a bit overkill, but I'd like to give it every chance I can.
Sounds like a plan. Everything is correct. I would shoot a "little" Marvel Mystery oil in each cyl to give it more of a chance. Kinda like doing a wet compression test. After priming pump, pull the coil wire and crank it over to get everything moving before firing it up.
