starting rebuilt 429
If I buy this motor, want to get some direction on starting it for the first time. Was rebuilt 3 years ago and the customer never came to get it. It's priced too well to pass up. I can borrow an engine stand to go over it before dropping it into my truck but no way to start it until it's in there.
Simply put, I'm looking for direction on how to approach this. Thanks.

Change the existing oil and filter as condensation could have contaminated it.
Pull the distributor and rotate the oil pump. You will need a long hex drive that matches the oil pump drive.
Pump a little oil into the cylinders and turn the engine slowly with the plugs out.
Do a complete tear down and make sure everything is in spec if you find something you don't like along the way.
