Today I went about replacing the glass in my type 8 mirrors on my 78 supercab. I went to the parts store and picked up what is supposed to be direct replacement glass measuring 10 x 7 1/16 and 10 3/4 I believe and brought it back put the rubber gasket on it and went to put it in when I realized it was much to small.. any ideas on where I might have to get one from or what may be the problem???
LMC truck sells direct-fit mirror glass replacements that are actually "direct fit". Buying proper fitting glass from auto parts stores is hit-or-miss. Also try Mac's or Carolina Classics.
Yeah I saw their whole assembly online and it scared me away because I have the original Ford mirrors but didnt see the glass Ill get my lmc book out and look it up but was kinda wanting today for the drive home from the shop (about an hour and a half drive) Thanks!!

Definetly stay away from their mirror assemblies! I tried my luck with them before. The chrome was garbage and started turning green and pitting after two weeks of sitting outside.
If you still have no luck try your local salvage yard. You may luck out and find original FoMoCo glass in good shape.
