Sounds like you have a short in the stearing column.

The ford light switch is a full route, so it has all 14 volts, so if there is a short in that system, it will take the load.

Check fuses in the box under the hood, blinker fuses are there.

Then youll have to check in stearing column,
Guys have had these issues with pinched wires and tilt columns.

If you want to eliminate the brake sensor, just unplug it.

Yeah I t sounds like you have a short in the system some place. That will cause all the issues you're describing.

Here is a link that may prove useful to you:
1996 Bronco/F-Series Workshop Manual

This is a link to the manual for our trucks. Go to the site, then click on the Lighting Tab on the left hand side. Inside there, you can either select exterior or interior and then there are a bunch of links that will come up. I would start by taking the covers off the steering column though. Talyn is right that is a very good place to start looking since it isn't at all uncommon to have wiring issues inside the tilt column if you use it a lot.

It's under the dash almost straight above the fuel pedal. It's a black box with a lot of wires coming out the bottom. If you take the lower part of the dash under the steering column off, you're looking right at it.
