1972 Tail Lights

I had a question regarding the brake and tail lights in 1972...

in '72 was there just one bulb per side in the rear? In my '65 I have one dual filament bulb per side in the back, one brighter than the other. The brighter filament is lit for the stop light and turn signal while the other filament is the running light. Is this how it was in 1972?

I have this question because I put a 1972 column in my 1965 truck and I am having difficulty getting the wiring harnesses to match up. As of right now I have no brake lights or rear emergency flashers and there is no problem with the brake light switch. These problems were not present before I changed out the column and I can not get the harnesses to work together.

Any help appreciated as this is the only thing keeping it off the road!!!!

Trevor, I lost your email address, I was going to send you a scanned copy of how I wired a '71 column into my '66. Contact me and I will get it to you later this week!

Will it still work even though I have 8 wires instead of 7 because I have a hazard switch on the column?

My address is trevmuzz@home.com

I am anxiously awaiting your reply.

Thanks,
Trevor
