So, can anyone tell me what I can remove from my engine bay after the jack etc.? What emissions stuff can my truck do without?(if there's no worries about visual or emissions inspections).
I don't expect this to be an extensive list, just as much stuff outta there as I can. I miss the simplicity of my old '76 engine bay!
The best way to simplify the engine bay is to close the hood, there really isn't much that isn't needed and it won't look any better with those few pieces removed.
i did a smog delete, i took out everything but the egr. if you do go that route, get an idle pulley to go in place of the smog pump (or you can break off the fins in the pump), otherwise putting on a smaller belt can be a real bear. some models have air lines that go to the cat. (mine didnt) that will have to be blocked off. there are also tubes that go to the back of the heads that will have to be blocked to. some people smash the porcelain off of spark plugs and screw them in there. again my truck didnt have those either. you can do a search for smog delete for more details, its been covered a 100 times.

LMFAO good answer they are ugly under there...
As far as smog you can pull the air injector stuff. Opens up passenger fender lil off the top of the motor lil behind and gets rid of the pump to seize up and screw you over driving home. Only reason I do it and have had two leave me dead in the road !As far as esthetics it dont do much, but it helps.
We did a smog pump delete, including all related accessories on my buddy's F-250. I thought it would look significantly better, it really didn't. It got rid of a few hoses and the canister, but it was still pretty ugly under there.
That was a funny and 99% true answer Conanski! I just want to slowly go through my truck and replace stuff that needs it (I want to eventually give the truck to my son) and get rid of a few items like the smog stuff and the jack etc. Making it as simple and as reliable as possible is my goal
If your extreme, you can get an a/c bypass pulley and remove the ac compressor which is
fairly large. You may get some performance with less parts (the way I see it, less weight
and less moving objects means better performance) but I have been told your defrost/defogg (whatever its called) wont work. Now you can do all this, that is if your ac doesn't work (clearly if your ac works then forget it)
i had a bunch of plastic lines that were super brittle, causing a lot of headaches, that was one reason (plus a squealing air pump). i did have before and after pictures, but cant seam to find them. i also converted all the plastic lines i had to re-use (egr and a few other things) over to rubber lines, makes it look a little better to.

Thats what Im thinking, those brittle white and red lines and smog pump stuff.
You will hurt reliability and mileage removing the "smog stuff". And the jack is quite small. I would hear Conanski's advice and leave everything as is. You can upgrade the engine getting better parts, but removing the stock smog parts will just make the computer throw some codes and probably make the engine run rich.
