Be able to tell ya in about a month. Been running DP for 2 yrs now and I have just ordered from Matt. He has achieved over 500HP with a similar set up to mine, no smoke and no pedal that puts you in the back seat as soon as you touch it..

Yeah I do have a kinda touchy pedal with the DP,I'd like to drive a truck with a different chip so i could compare.I have some thoughts but if I start trying to tell someone too change too much it would probably be a disaster..LOL
Kinda the same situation when i bought the truck my uncle had already put the dp on it and the truck runs great with it......i just have been hearing great things about other tuners and am trying to figure out if one has more advantages than the other.....and like you said with the money you already have in your chip and dont want to have to spend the money to get new makes sense lol......i may give jody a call and see what it may cost to have it updated..... i am unsure how long ago my uncle had put the dp on and since then i have done a couple diff mods so having it updated my be helpful.....
I bought it in '06, never sent it back for an update. Find out what a reburn will cost. If you do decide to sell it let me know.
.
Did you notice a difference after having it updated?
Since I have the DP F6, I changed my tunes many times... at first. My HD4R100 didn't play nice with the tunes - or the other way around - and my shifts were real neck-snappers. TQLU would make the truck shudder, so I drove "Stinky" in Stock until it could get sorted out. A few emails later and all is good with the shifts. My 80e is very touchy and smokey (I call it the "At least drive the speed limit" tune for passing), but my 60e is perfection (after a lot of updates). The throttle is responsive like a sports car, but not "oops, too little - oops too much". I wouldn't use the 60e on dirt roads because all I get is a gravel roostertail. I add this info only as something to consider with DP. I would not make a case against any other tuners out there, except the canned stuff.

I wouldn't say it drives like stock. If it did there would be no.point in getting a chip. I did notice when I put it on I had to get used to the throttle. I ran Cales tunes for about a year and his pedal is not quite as touchy. Again I have not tried DP so I cannot compare. If I knew more about tuning I would have matt tweak a couple things. But I guess I could always drive down there and her live tuned.

That is one thing that i have noticed about my 80e tune when taking off (zf6) while letting the clutch out to get rolling there is a fine line between stalling and taking off way to fast bc of the pedal sensitivity... but when i turn it to the stock tune it is not like that at all and would like my 80e to act the same
If you send it in dp can turn down the pedal sensitivity on your 80e tune.
That would be awesome but if thats the way jody designed the tune and i want to manipulate it by having him adjust the sensitivity will it interfere with what the tune was built to do?

Everybody comments on how 80e has a touchy throttle and I've not heard the same comment on any other tune/tuner. I've read up on tuning and I know next to nothing on it, but my understanding of electronics is strong. I would dare to guess that the touchy throttle is a gimmic. For John Q, it has a big "WOW" factor because it gives the impression the truck is crazy powerful. For the gearheads like us, it's an annoyance. After playing with my 60e and 80e enough and watching the AE data, I'm going to have throttle sensityivity brought in check when I upgrade the tunes for the new sticks. If there is a counterpoint to my "guess" or choice, I'll learn that soon because I have an email out to James right now and I'll hear back Monday.
Rookie question - why do they smoke so much and it sounds like DP smokes more than others. When you refer to names, Jody, etc.. are these reps from DP or other?
I am saving up for tunes but is DP the only tuner that allows interactive switching? it seems like that would be a must if you use it for a daily driver and also tow at times.

Jody us the owner of DP and writes his own tunes. Matt is Gearhead automotive performance. When you say "interactive" do you mean switch on the fly? All of them are able to do that.
